About the role

Conducts medical laboratory tests using various instruments and methods to provide a reliable diagnostic medical laboratory report to ensure the appropriate medical management response is carried out at the Clinic.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Preparation of samples for analysis.
• Using laboratory equipment to identify microorganisms.
• Ensure reliability of testing equipment and procedures so that diagnostic results are accurate and up to standard.
• Match blood for transfusion and administer tests for drug levels in blood.
• Perform quality control tests in the lab as well as on-site when necessary.
• Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks.
• Conduct daily and weekly checks on all medical items and equipment’s onsite.
• Ensure all medical waste is disposed of in accordance with K92’s Medical Waste Disposal standard operating procedure.

Candidates should be a tertiary qualified laboratory Technicians, with current registration as a member or associate member of the Health Service PNG medical board with 2-3 years post-graduation work experience. In addition, they must also be able to possess.

• Strong communication and organizational skills
• The ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• The ability to work well in a team environment with a strong focus on performance and deliverables.
• A good working Microsoft Office experience with Word, Excel, Email and PowerPoint.
