About the role:

The Permit to Work (PTW) Issuer plays a critical role within the Processing Department to ensure safe work practices within operational or maintenance environments are maintained by planning and conducting isolations, preparing and issuing permits for all work tasks. This role ensures that safety, environmental, and operational risks are eliminated before work begins, by ensuring correct isolations and permits are completed prior to permitting the work. The PTW Issuer works closely with supervisors, operational, maintenance, shutdown planning teams, HSE officers, and other personnel to ensure compliance with isolation and permit process and procedures always occurs.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Identify and perform safe and effective isolations in the field to ensure the safety of all personnel required to work on the equipment
• Prepare and issue permits for all work activities, including high risk tasks.
• Verify that all necessary safety procedures and controls are in place before issuing any permit.
• Perform isolations as per the shutdown schedule, prepare permit control boards and issue permits to those performing the work.
• Maintain stocks of all equipment e.g. isolation tools, gas monitors, padlocks, permit books, etc. Ensuring they are in good condition.

  Assist in isolation and de-isolation of equipment.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have some or all the following.

• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical diploma or higher in engineering, such as Processing, Mechanical or Electrical, or a related field is preferred
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, First Aid, or a relevant PTW certification is highly recommended.
•  
  At least 3 years of PTW experience working in Minerals Processing, Oil & Gas, construction, or maintenance environments, with a specific focus on safety management.
• Ability to clearly communicate safety procedures, instructions, and regulations to workers and supervisors.to enjoy practical and manual activities
• Ability to identify potential hazards and risks and ensure that all documentation is correct before issuing work permits.
• Ability to evaluate risks and suggest effective solutions to ensure the safety of workers and the workplace.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards and processes.
• Strong organisational skills to manage and track permits efficiently and ensure proper record-keeping.

  Proficient in MS Office suite and any industry-specific software related to permit issuance and safety management.
