Position Overview

This primary purpose of this position is to lead the finance function of the Australian entity of K92 Mining. This includes, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll processing, accounts payable, and compliance. The role works closely with the Vancouver Corporate Office and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial functions for the Australian entity, including general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and accruals. 
• Preparation and submission of monthly financial reports to the Vancouver Corporate Office in accordance with deadlines.
• Assist with tax filings, compliance reporting, and audit support for the Australian entity.
• Expatriate payroll (approx. 200) - prepare and process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for PNG-based expatriate employees and Ensure compliance with employment terms, tax regulations, and internal policy.
• Oversee and process payroll for Australian-based employees (approx. 30), ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Maintain payroll records and compliance with Australian employment and tax legislation.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the Australian entity.
• Coordinate with operational and corporate stakeholders to develop and maintain accurate financial plans and monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis and commentary as required.
• Support financial systems improvements within Pronto
• Assist with testing, data validation, and documentation related to system enhancements K92 Mining (Aus) Pty Ltd
• Support ad hoc site projects as required, in collaboration with site, IT, and corporate teams.
• Provide day-to-day oversight, development and guidance to the Finance Officer based in Brisbane including payroll inputs, AP processing, and financial reports.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance within the finance function.

 Qualification, Skills & Experience

This role is ideally suited to someone who is looking to take their first move away from the chartered profession or to someone who has worked in a similar role and is looking to take the next step. Ideal applicants should be able to demonstrate some or most of the following  

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or related commercial discipline
• Experience in accounting firms or Big 4 is advantageous 
• Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining, resources, or industrial sectors
• CPA / CA accreditation (desirable)
• Experience working in Papua New Guinea or other developing countries or remote locations would be highly regarded. 
• Experience with the management of ERP systems; (Pronto) would be advantageous. 
• Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior management and executives, listen actively, resolve issues constructively, and mentor junior team members.
