About the role

As part of the technical services team and reporting to the Registered Mine Surveyor, the primary purpose of this position is providing support in all survey activities, including surface and underground across the organisation.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Surveys done thoroughly and accurately with descriptions used for key features. All pick-ups done showing check station used as back-sight; this to be recorded as first and last point.
• Perform GPS surveys to accurate limits for both general pick-up and control surveys. Provide instruction for team surveyors in the correct use of RTK GPS system.
• Monitor base station movement and perform site calibration if required.
• Complete surveys at month-end to enable volumes to be calculated accurately.  Ensure that no areas missed and that the DTM is accurate.
• Calculate all volumes for underground and associated stockpiles including ROM and COS. Be able to prove volumes conclusively and differentiate between cut and fill areas.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have a tertiary qualification in Surveying with MRA Mine Surveyor accreditation, along with experience in either the Mining, Construction, Engineering or Oil and Gas industries. In addition to this you will have some or all the following.

• Sound communication skills.
• Experienced with 3D modelling software.
• Ability to analyse numerical and geographical data.
• Well developed planning and organisational skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
