K92 Mining Limited operates the Kainantu Gold Mine in the Eastern Highlands Province. Since we launched in 2016, we've grown gold production every year, boosting Papua New Guinea's economy. We take pride in supporting your communities, with nearly 94% of our team members being fellow PNG locals.

About the role

As part of the technical services team and reporting to the Principal - Mine Technical Services, the primary purpose of this position is providing medium, long term and/or strategic mine planning as well as undertaking a range of short-term production and capital projects.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Establishes schedules for drill and blast barging for the underground mining at K92 Mining.
• Ensure the drill and blast activities are carried out to meet company production requirements in a safe and cost – effective manner.
• Monitor the performance of any contractors involved in these activities.
• Reviews with other engineering specialist, mining production targets and ore specifications and liaises with process personnel accordingly.
• Ensures that adequate amounts of explosives and drilling equipment are pre- ordered to meet anticipated schedules.
• Monitors the safe storage of and handling of all explosives.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering with Shot Firers permit and Explosive handling certification to Australian Standards, along with extensive experience in supervisory level in drill & blast preferably in underground mining. In addition to this you will have some or all the following.

• Thorough knowledge of the PNG Mine Safety Act and Regulations.
• Sound communication skills.
• Experienced with 3D modelling software.
• Ability to analyze numerical and geographical data.
• Well-developed planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
