About the role

As K92 expands our Kainantu underground gold mine, we now seek to add a Senior Project Engineer to our Corporate Projects team in Brisbane. With further expansion projects upcoming as well as sustaining capital projects through 2026 and 2027 this newly created role contributes to our continuous growth and forward planning for our PNG projects. In this role you will support the Manager - Projects in delivering key infrastructure projects as part of K92’s expansion initiatives, focussing on project planning, execution, control, and coordination of engineering and construction activities whilst ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules using appropriate planning tools.
  • Support the preparation of project scopes, execution plans, and work breakdown structures (WBS).
  • Coordinate and track project progress, identifying risks and deviations from plan.
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tenders and procurement packages.
  • Support cost control and forecasting activities, including budget tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain project documentation including status reports, change registers, and meeting minutes.
  • Facilitate communication between internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants.
  • Provide engineering input into design reviews and construction planning.
  • Assist with technical assessments and constructability reviews.
  • Support commissioning planning and documentation.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments and safety reviews.
  • Liaise with site-based teams, consultants, and vendors to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Support the Project Manager in stakeholder reporting and presentations.
  • Ensure health and safety, and environmental performance meets or exceeds company and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively promote proactive safety behaviours and leading by example

About You

Ideal applicants will hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline), in addition you will have the following skills and experience

  • Postgraduate qualifications in project management (desirable).
  • Certificates in competency in project scheduling and document control (desirable)
  • 5–10 years of experience in project engineering roles within mining, infrastructure, or heavy industry.
  • Experience in construction and mining-related projects.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2).
  • Proficiency in scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Proficiency in project cost management and related tools (e.g., CMS, Pronto).
  • Proficiency in document control tools (e.g., Asite, Sharepoint)
  • Experience with tendering, procurement, and contractor management.
  • Understanding of construction and commissioning processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to autonomously manage smaller packages / projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
