K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

As K92’s underground gold mine continues to expand, join us at this strategically important time and work with the management team to ensure suitable Health & Safety support is available to a diverse and growing site. You will oversee daily operations of the HS team across site including underground operations, processing facilities and exploration sites, we seek a high accountable individual who has safety and a continuous improvement mindset at the forefront of their development.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Roll out of Safety culture and behavioral programs site wide. Effectively influence all site managers to drive the reduction of significant injuries and fatality potential across the site.
• Foster and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement across site in relation to safety standards and behaviors.
• Provide OHS technical advice and support to site managers, including development and recommendations on safety policy, legislation development and emerging OHS best practice.
• Establish and maintain health and safety systems and standards.
• Develop a cohesive team committed to delivering the business objectives.
• Support change and drive innovation and be able to discern and select appropriate courses of action including intervention as appropriate to resolve differing views and opinions.
• Articulate direction to employees within the H&S team.
• Actively promote an environment where all employees are engaged and valued and focussed on the continuous improvement of the business.
• Identify, select, develop, and retain top talent within the safety team which is required for long term planning and nationalisation.
• Develop the capability of team members, coach and mentor continuously to identify and advance successors for key departmental role.
• Ensure operations are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards.
• Oversee training of crisis and emergency management to appropriate groups.
• Conduct regular and thorough inspections of mine and plant areas to ensure compliance with legislation, safety, and environment standards.
• Oversee, review and audit regulatory compliance

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have a tertiary qualification in relevant field with a minimum of 4 years’ experience as Safety Superintendent in Mining, Oil or Gas Industry. In addition to this, you will have most or all the following.

• Experience as a Superintendent (minimum 3 years) in Mining.
• Able to work well in a team environment with a strong focus on performance and deliverables.
• Ability to work within a framework of Plans, Standards and Procedures and implement these.
• Ability to work to a plan and with minimal supervision.
• Positive attitude and willingness to teach, train, coach and mentor others.
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity, for both PNG and expat staff.
• Demonstrate sound work ethic
• Able to conduct briefings in English and Tok Pisin.
• Microsoft Office experience with Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint.
• Experience with collating and editing reports.
• Flexible with work location
• Current PNG Driver’s license.
• Tertiary qualifications in Safety, Environment, or 3+ years’ operating at a senior level within a similar organization.
• Trained in incident investigation, preferably ICAM.
• Trained in Auditing
