K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate. 

We are now transforming the operation with a new 1.2 mtpa process plant as well as extensive construction and expansion across site that will see us triple the output from our mine by 2027. About the role

Joining our Health & Safety Team, you will undertake medical laboratory tests using various instruments and methods to provide a reliable diagnostic medical laboratory report to ensure the appropriate medical management response is carried out at the Clinic.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Preparation of samples for analysis.
• Using laboratory equipment to identify microorganisms.
• Ensure reliability of testing equipment and procedures so that diagnostic results are accurate and up to standard.
• Match blood for transfusion and administer tests for drug levels in blood.
• Perform quality control tests in the lab as well as on-site when necessary.
• Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks.
• Conduct daily and weekly checks on all medical items and equipment’s onsite.
• Ensure all medical waste is disposed of in accordance with K92’s Medical Waste Disposal standard operating procedure.

About You

Candidates should be a tertiary qualified laboratory technician, with current registration as a member or associate member of the Health Service PNG medical board with 2-3 years post-graduation work experience. In addition, they must also be able to possess.

• Strong communication and organizational skills
• The ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• The ability to work well in a team environment with a strong focus on performance and deliverables.
• A good working Microsoft Office experience with Word, Excel, Email and PowerPoint.
