K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

Joining our underground mining team, this role involves the operation of the Jumbo Drill, charging up Jumbo faces in the underground mine operations and being able to maximize the utilization and productivity from the Jumbo Drill.

Key / Major Accountabilities

• Responsible operation of a single and / or multiple boom jumbo drilling rig
• Assessing ground conditions at the face and implementing ground control according to site and safety requirements
• Ability to read and accurately follow mine instruction plan with skill and precision
• Communicate with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimize drill patterns and advance meters
• All aspects of development mining, including incline/decline and ore driving bores.
• Installation of ground support of various types including split sets, resign bolts and mesh but not limited to.
• Perform thorough pre-starts.
• Be proactive with specific role requirements relating to the mining cycle, ensuring minimal operational downtime.
• Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
• Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
• Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Must have at least 5 or more years of Jumbo Twin Boom Operation
• Must understand the critical components of the Jumbo and the functions.
• Must be trained and able to charge the face with explosives.
• Must be able to understand the company’s targets and work towards achieving the targets.
• Have a strong understanding of the mining cycle.
• Flexible, adaptable and a strong and proactive team player.
• Ability to meet agreed schedules and deadlines.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with other team members and K92 Mining Ltd employees.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
