K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

As K92 continues expanding our underground gold mine near Kainantu, safety remains our number one priority, as such, we seek to add an additional Senior Safety Officer to the team who will be responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations and procedures are followed at our Kainantu Gold Mine. This role is a crucial role in preventing accidents and incidents, protecting the health and safety of employees, contractors and maintaining compliance with Papua New Guinea’s safety laws and regulations.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensuring the continuous improvement of, safety inspections, safety training and compliance.
• Maintain a safe work environment for all K92 employees, visitors and contractors through audits, inspections, and training.
• Maintain the efficiency and cost-effective management of safety in the workplace and project site.
• Ensure all incidents are fully investigated and recorded within the site safety data base in a timely and accurate manner.
• Development of safety training programs and initiatives.
• Develop scheduled, weekly, monthly safety audits and checks project wide
• Collate and submit weekly and monthly reports to Project Director and Operational GM.
• Attend site wide weekly and monthly safety meetings.
• Ensuring that the camp and project sites safety regulations are observed by all K92 employees including contractors,
• Provide safety induction to new intakes, casuals, contractors, and visitors to site.
• To ensure the safety rules and other policies of the camp and mine site are observed and report any suspicious activities

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have a Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety/Environmental Health from a recognized institution or equivalent., in addition you must have some or all of the following

• At least 10 years’ experience in occupational health and safety in mining environment would be an advantage A Diploma or certificate in Health Extension or General Nursing is an advantage.
• Current PNG Driver’s license.
• Training and Assessment experience and qualifications.
• Possess good training skills
• Completion of accredited fire training.
• Current first aid certificate.
• Well-versed experience in project safety management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer and e-mail correspondences.
• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
• Strong planning, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Exposure to Emergency Response teams, processes.
