K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

As we expand our operation, we are seeking to add a Production Engineering Superintendent to our technical services team to lead our team of expat and national engineers, in this role you will provide support to the Mine Technical Services, and Mining Operations teams, with specific focus on mining and related infrastructure projects; whilst producing safe workable realistic mining and project schedules in a timely manner. You will also oversee all aspects related to mining production activities including: short term mine scheduling, ventilation, drill & blast, water management, raisebore management and corresponding reports.

Key / Major Accountabilities

  • Ensure all aspects of mining operations design and planning comply with Company policy and statutory requirements including health and safety, environment, and agreement with landowners.
  • Ensure that technical projects are progressed in a timely manner. Optimize operational mining efficiency, maintaining cost control and maximizing production.
  • Develop and submit for approval operating mine design plans that are compatible with site targets and goals.
  • Conceptual long to short range mine ventilation designs and simulation via Ventsim.
  • Conceptual long to short range dewatering and water supply designs and simulation via Pumpsim.
  • Provide advice to the operations on short to medium term strategic plan to meet the business targets.
  • Mentor, train, and up-skill Graduates member of the MTS team.
  • Project management of assigned underground mine infrastructure projects including: Primary & secondary ventilation fans (Fan stations), bulkheads and DBR’s, Primary and interim pump stations, Tele-remote setup plans, emergency escape ladderways procurement and installation, Ore-pass / waste-pass design
  • Ensure projects are accurately scoped, budgeted, planned and progress efficiently.
  • Collaborate with mine operational and engineering teams to ensure alignment with the mine schedule and plan.
  • Monitor, manage and control costs, and ensure that all financial obligations such as Contractors Invoices are reconciled and approved in a timely manner.
  • Report on project progress and provide understanding of any variations.
  • Engage and manage suppliers and contractors to ensure safe and timely delivery of project plans.
  • Identification of CAPEX and OPEX opportunities
  • Maintain safe work standards and practices in accordance with government and company policy.
  • Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values..

About You

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Survey or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Minimum of 15-years of experience in the mining environment – underground mining experience is essential, narrow vein mining is highly advantageous.
  • High level of computer skills with standard Microsoft office programs
  • Experience with 3D models, Deswik and related software essential.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for communication, rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
  • Must provide frontline mentoring and supervision to engineers and support staff
