About the role
- The Superintendent – Surface Workshop is responsible for leading and managing all maintenance activities within the Kumian Surface Workshop facility.
- The Superintendent – Surface Workshop will ensure proper upkeep of mobile equipment and fixed infrastructure by overseeing a team of multi-disciplined technicians, developing preventative maintenance programs, adhering to safety regulations, and optimizing maintenance schedules through data analysis, with the objective to minimise downtime and maximise asset life.
Key / Major Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
- Planning & Organising Maintenance
- Liaise with the Maintenance Planners to develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules.
- Prioritise maintenance tasks based on urgency and asset criticality.
- Create and manage maintenance budgets.
- Allocate resources effectively to maintenance activities.
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of maintenance technicians (LV Mechanics, Auto-Electricians, Heavy Equipment Fitters, Panel Beaters, Boilermaker/Welders, Tyre Fitters).
- Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities to maintenance team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality within the maintenance team through the K92 Cares program.
Maintenance Operations
- Respond to maintenance breakdowns and other repair requests, promptly.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential issues.
- Coordinate repairs and upgrades with external contractors when necessary.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Reporting and Data Analysis
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including Work Orders and repair history.
- Generate reports on maintenance costs, performance, and asset availability/utilisation.
- Utilise data analysis to identify trends and optimise maintenance strategies.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate maintenance schedules, updates, and issues to all K92 stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other K92 Departments to address maintenance needs and improve service delivery.
- Coordinate the management of planned maintenance projects.
Key Goals of the Maintenance Superintendent
- Minimise equipment downtime and maximise operational efficiency.
- Extend the lifespan of assets through proactive maintenance practices.
- Optimise maintenance costs by identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure a safe working environment for maintenance employees and contractors.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
About You
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you should have;
- Mechanical Trade certificate.
- Current PNG driver’s license
- Certificate IV Training & Assessment
- Certificate in Frontline Management
- Minimum 5 years in Maintenance Supervisory role.
- Demonstrated use of industry standard ERP (Oracle, SAP, Pronto) – Maintenance module.
- Good level of English literacy – spoken and written.
- Competent in the use of MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point).
- Familiarity/experience with Pronto ERP – Maintenance module.
- Project Management experience – coordinating small projects.
- Mining industry experience.
