K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

As the Supervisor Diamond Drilling you will provide on the job training and mentoring of the diamond drilling crew whilst maintaining efficient production rates and effective communication between the crews, Superintendents and Manager. This role reports directly to the Diamond Drill Project Supervisor and or Diamond Drill Superintendent and will supervise the daily activities of the diamond drill rigs to ensure optimum drilling operations are achieved in a safe and timely manner.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Management of the company’s diamond drill fleet and all related machinery and equipment.
  • Training of Operators and Offsiders in safe and efficient use of the companies Diamond Drill fleet and all associated equipment including Surveys, mud mixing, and rig moves.
  • Ensure Operators are always drilling at optimal speed for ground conditions.
  • Move and set up drill rigs, install collar piping.
  • Diagnosing down hole problems and rectifying.
  • Responsible for the efficient, safe, optimal and continuous operation of diamond drilling; and
  • Effective and reliable delivery of diamond drill core to the geologist.
  • Mentoring of Drilling crews and treating everyone regardless of background, place of domicile, religion or age.
  • Work a rotation of day shift and night shift and overtime outside of shift hours when required.
  • Record keeping of consumables used on shifts.
  • Record keeping, including overseeing drill reports are filled in correctly.
  • Attend Day shift and Night shift pre-shift muster meetings.
  • Delivers work within approved budget managing any variances in accordance with escalation process.
  • Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities.
  • Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.
  • Ensure diamond drilling operations are conducted by competent operators in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures and legislation

 

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have

  • Strong people and time management skills
  • Min 5 years working in Diamond Drilling industry
  • Knowledge of critical components of the Drills and their functions.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
  • Lead a team of up to 30 people in the underground environment.
