About the role

Our new gold processing facility will be commissioned in 2025. The Electrical Specialist will play a key role in commissioning the new plant by assisting with the testing, configuration and startup of electrical equipment.  They will also be actively developing SOPs and maintenance programs for ongoing maintenance activities, plant de-bottlenecking and modifications.   We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Specialist to be part of this dynamic and growing team.

Key / Major Accountabilities

• Configuration and testing of LV and HV VSD’s.
• Development of Safe Work Procedures for ongoing maintenance activities.
• Analysing plant issues utilising the control system
• HV Switching and relay configuration and programming.
• Maintain and fault find complexed electrical control circuits ensuring they function as per design and all process and safety interlocks work correctly.
• Interpret complex electrical schematic drawings to enable timely fault rectifications on process plant equipment.
• Assist electricians and Instrument technicians in complex fault-finding tasks ensuring timely execution.  
• Diagnose electrical defects or hazards on systems, appliances and machinery and identify adjustment and repair timely.
• Design, scope and install electrical upgrades and modifications ensuring that comply to electrical standards.
• Direct and train subordinates to install and maintain plant electrical equipment.
• Delegate routine tasks to subordinates and provide supervision where required.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for repair and service promptly ensuring budgeted plant availability is maintained.
• Ensure and maintain safe work standards and practices per mine safety regulations for all tasks performed.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong character who is prepared to make hard decisions and deliver results. In addition to this, you will have the following.

• Must be an Electrical Tradesman with PPL certification
• HV qualification is desirable
• Engineering qualification is desirable
• Must have PNG driver's Licence
• 10 Years + process plant electrical experience
• Process plant commissioning experience will be highly regarded. 
• Experience in testing and programming HV and LV protection relays
• Expert in reading complex electrical schematics
• Experience with PLC programming.
• VSD programming experience.
• Experience with large Ball Mills and/or SAG Mills electrical drive systems is desirable
