K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate. 

We are now transforming the operation with a new 1.2 mtpa process plant as well as extensive construction and expansion across site that will see us triple the output from our mine by 2027. About the role

Joining our maintenance team on site you will read and interpret blueprints and written instructions and diagrams to perform welding and metal fabrication based on project needs. You will construct, repair and maintain equipment and have the ability to diagnose problems, with regular reference to equipment manuals.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Ensuring that the sections daily work plans are executed as directed.
• Competent in lifting and safe operation of workshop equipment.
• Reading and understanding technical drawings and manuals.
• Diagnose problems in all equipment with regular reference to equipment manuals.
• Prepare and plan of welding jobs for site services.
• Carry out equipment alignments with Dial Indicators.
• Conduct accurate dimensional checks of crusher bushes, shafts or bearing clearances and recording data.
• Attend to isolations required for simple tasks to major shutdowns.
• Conduct general housekeeping at work area.
• Identify and report safety hazards.
• Maintain safety work standards in accordance with government regulations and company policy.
• Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have all or some of the following

• Possess current Level 3 Metal Fabrication & Welding certification from NATTB
• Recognized trade certificate in the Fabrication and welding or fitting and machining discipline.
• 5 years’ experience in relative technical area.
• 2 years’ experience in the Mining industry.
• Sound communication & technical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Sound planning and organization skills.         
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
