About the role

This position is responsible for the cooking of meals for up to 60 personnel, ensuring all food is kept safe, prepared hygienically and that supplies are delivered to site on time. You will be answerable to the Camp Manager, Logistics Officer and Head of Department.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Preparing a cooked breakfast from 5am to 7am.
• Preparing hot pack lunches from 11:30am – 1:30pm and organise delivery to drill rigs.
• Preparing a cooked dinner from 5:30pm – 6:30pm.
• Make sure all food is prepared in a hygienic environment.
• Make sure only the Chefs are allowed in the food storage area. (not the cooks)
• Make sure no food is stolen.
• Make sure the camp does not run out of food.
• Organise and manage purchase of fresh vegetables.
• Make sure a secure food storage area is constructed.
• Talks with the logistics officer to make sure enough food/supplies are at camp.
• Stock takes two days before a supply run.
• Mark off all deliveries from contractors and report any missing supplies to the Admin.
• Train up cleaners so they clean properly.
• Train up cooks so they learn the skills involved in preparing food.
• Abides by Health regulations.
• Aids in the evaluation of camp programs and personnel.
• Maintain safety work standards in accordance with government regulations and company policy.
• Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values.

About You

• Minimum Grades 10 or 12 Certificate
• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a qualified Chef
• Communicates well in both English and Tok-Pisin
• A Problem solver.
• Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and to organise and manage workload to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrates characteristics in honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Proven ability to manage and acquit a cash advance
• Ability to follow standard policies.
