K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

This position is part of a team responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the mine power supply and distribution system for all electrical equipment on the mine and exploration sites in Kainantu.  In addition, this position will also play and important role in the training of trades assistants.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Inspect, isolate, and repair electrical malfunctions using various hand and power tools.
  • Ensure that alarms and emergency electrical systems onsite are always operational.
  • Direct and train subordinates to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and machines.
  • Ensure and maintain safe work standards and practices in accordance with mine safety regulations for all tasks performed.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you are a NATTB certified electrician, with PPL certification and demonstrated experience within a mining / minerals processing environment. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.

  • Experience in installation and maintenance of power distribution systems, transformer installations, motor control Centre’s, LV and HV transfers and starters. 
  • The ability to fault find and develop appropriate solution in order to ensure the equipment availability is high.
  • Maintain current electrician’s license to meet government regulations.
  • Ability to train maintenance personnel in all aspects of their trade – particularly in diagnosis and fault finding, quality control, thoroughness and record keeping.
  • Must be a self-starter, and very resourceful, with the ability to find solutions to problems to ensure the equipment availability is high.
  • Good health physical ability is a prerequisite, as is the ability to live in a remote environment with limited facilities.
  • Flexible, adaptable and be a team player.
