K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

In this role you will assist the Raisebore Driller with the safe and efficient setup, operation, and maintenance of raise drilling activities while maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Assist with moving, handling, and setting up drill rods for raise drilling operations.
• Support the Raisebore Driller in daily drilling tasks and operational requirements.
• Monitor drilling activities and assist as required to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct pre-start checks and greasing of the raise drill.
• Clean, inspect, and grease drill rod threads to maintain equipment integrity.
• Monitor and operate the 90kW pump used for drilling fluids.
• Clean and maintain the drill rig, associated equipment, and surrounding work area.
• Operate Light Vehicles (LV) in underground environments.
• Operate Telehandler equipment where required.
• Operate Volvo IT120 (forks and basket) in accordance with site procedures.
• Use basic hand tools safely and effectively.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all work areas.
• Follow all site safety procedures and instructions.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve operational goals.

About You

It is requirement of the position that the incumbent possesses the following.

• Valid driver’s licence (suitable for site requirements)
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
• Machinery operation tickets (LV, Telehandler, IT Loader)
• Previous underground or mining experience.
• Grade 12 Level education.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
• Ability to perform manual labour tasks consistently and safely.
• Capability to follow instructions and implement them correctly.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools.
• Ability to perform duties with minimum supervision.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
