Position Overview

We are seeking a Commercial Analyst to join our corporate finance and accounting team at our Vancouver Head Office. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth and close collaboration with senior leaders in a rapidly growing company. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Financial Reporting Specialist and play a key role in supporting our department’s goals.

As the Commercial Analyst, your time will be split roughly evenly between commercial activities and general finance support. On the commercial side, you will support the Company’s concentrate and doré sales, including preparing invoices, coordinating with the offtaker and tracking revenue, with work reviewed and signed off by the Director of Finance. On the finance side, you will support the team with the monthly and quarterly close, reconciliations, financial reporting and ad hoc projects.

Key / Major Accountabilities:

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Sales and Invoicing: Assist in preparing provisional, shipping and final invoices for concentrate sales in line with the offtake agreements, checking pricing, quotational periods, payables, deductions and adjustments, and flagging discrepancies for review and sign-off by the Director of Finance.
  • Shipping and Logistics Coordination: Work closely with PNG site logistics and shipping teams to monitor shipment schedules and status, maintain up-to-date records of upcoming and completed shipments, and assist in preparing and reviewing shipping documentation and invoices.
  • Revenue Tracking and Reporting: Track and reconcile revenue and accounts receivable from concentrate and doré sales, maintain sales and revenue schedules to support financial reporting, and assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes related to sales.
  • Offtaker and Assay Coordination: Liaise with the Company’s offtaker on routine invoicing and payment queries, coordinate with independent assay providers to obtain and verify assay results, and escalate pricing, contract and settlement matters to the Director of Finance.
  • Month-End and Quarter-End Close: Assist the finance team with the monthly and quarterly close, preparing journal entries, accruals and supporting schedules and helping to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Reconciliations: Prepare and assist with general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances.
  • Financial Reporting Support: Support the preparation of internal and external financial reporting, gathering data and preparing schedules, and assist with external audits by preparing supporting documentation.
  • Ad Hoc Finance Projects: Provide support on ad hoc finance projects and analyses as they arise, including process improvements and system or reporting initiatives.

 About You:

This position is well suited to a detail-oriented professional with experience in commodities, logistics or finance. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Prior relevant experience in commodities, logistics or finance preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial data management.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and international teams is preferred.
  • Comfortable coordinating with an international site across time zones.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Base salary commensurate with experience.
