About the role

This role will be responsible to complete all civil and construction works that is required in the underground mining environment. This is inclusive of but not limited to grouting, water and air installation, scaling and barring, installation of other mine services, drilling requirements using Air leg and Rock Drills.  Any other General Duties within the underground mine as required fleet.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include:

• Inspect, isolate, and repair electrical malfunctions using various hand and power tools on mobile fleet.
• Grouting
• Washing and Scaling & Barring
• Installation of air and water pipes
• Installation of cable bolts
• The pumping of cement into drilled holes to stabilise ground support
• Lifting of mixing equipment into workbasket
• Lifting of cement bags (2.5kg)
• Cleaning of equipment and vehicle after use
• The wash down and scaling / barring of loose rocks from the walls and backs of an underground tunnel
• Roll out water hoses from services to broken rock.
• Water down rock thoroughly
• Roll up water hoses and place in safe position.
• Levering up and down of scaling bar to remove loose rock.
• Scale sown loose rock if required using scaling bars (approx. 6 kg in weight)
• Connection of new pipe work to existing services
• Securing of pipe work to upper walls using eyebolts and chains
• Physical activity involving upper arm, shoulder and torso work.
• Install cable bolts into drill holes in backs of underground tunnel that are used for extra ground support.
• Cables are pushed up into the holes and secured into position.

About You

To be considered for this role you must possess:

• Grades 10 or 12 certificate.
• Minimum Grade eight (8) educational qualification, but preferable a Grade ten (10) certificate
• A vocational training certificate is preferable.
• Has minimum of 1-year experience in similar underground mine working environment.
• Ability to read and write both Pidgin and English
• Ability to relate to mine workers comprises of different ethnic groups.
• Must be a Local from the mine impact areas.
