K92 Mining Limited operates the Kainantu Gold Mine in the Eastern Highlands Province. Since we launched in 2016, we've grown gold production every year, boosting Papua New Guinea's economy. We take pride in supporting your communities, with nearly 94% of our team members being fellow PNG locals.

About the role

The primary purpose of this position is operation of the Jumbo Drill, charging up Jumbo faces in the underground operations. Be able to maximize the utilization and productivity from the Jumbo Drill.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Assure working area is safe for men and equipment to perform working duties. This includes but is not limited to: check scaling, ensuring electrical installations and services are clear of drilling area, erecting barricades with signs where appropriate, and guarding against injury or damage when holes breakthrough.
• Drill holes to design line, gradient and profile.
• Keep the drilling equipment safe, in clean working order and report any defects to the supervisor or fitters.
• Communicate with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimize drill patterns and meters.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have minimum Grade 10 level of education along with experience in a similar role in either open cut of underground mining either or you may a recent Geology graduate with minimal industry experience who is looking to secure their first role in the mining industry. In addition to this you will have some or all the following.

• Sound communication skills.
• Basic geological knowledge, and familiar with scientific principles related to geology.
• GPS operation, basic computer soft skills
• Well-developed planning and organizational skills.
• Valid Driver’s License – Class 6.
