About the Role
The Senior Specialist – Fixed Plant Maintenance provides technical expertise and hands-on support to the fixed plant maintenance teams to improve plant reliability, availability, and maintenance capability. The role focuses on troubleshooting, maintenance optimisation, and mentoring the national workforce to strengthen technical skills, improve maintenance practices, and support reliable operation of the processing plant.
Key Accountabilities
Technical Support: Provide specialist technical advice and hands-on support to the fixed plant maintenance teams to improve equipment availability and reliability while ensuring maintenance activities align with operational targets and budget requirements. Proactively engage with area superintendents and supervisors to identify improvement opportunities, coordinate critical spares programs, assist with development of work plans and standard operating procedures, and respond to routine or emergency plant issues to minimise downtime.
Planning: Support the maintenance planning function to ensure defects are effectively identified and rectified to optimise plant reliability and availability. Contribute to the development of long-term maintenance requirements and assist with improvements to the Pronto maintenance management system.
Reliability and Condition Monitoring: Assist with identifying and implementing reliability improvement initiatives aimed at maximising plant performance, reducing operational risk, and supporting cost management initiatives. Contribute to maintenance improvement programs including asset criticality reviews, preventative maintenance development and optimisation, and critical parts analysis.
Capability Development: Strengthen the technical capability of the fixed plant maintenance team through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training. Support the development of a high-performance culture by providing guidance, identifying skills gaps, assisting with training package development, and supporting workforce capability growth including succession planning for key roles.
Safety: Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by demonstrating personal accountability for health and safety and ensuring safe work practices are followed across maintenance activities. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure all work is performed in accordance with site HSE requirements and safe work procedures.
About You
Qualifications:
• Relevant trade qualification in Fitting and Turning.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
• 10+ years relevant work experience in fixed plant maintenance (essential)
• Previous supervision experience (essential)
• Previous experience operating in Papua New Guinea or developing countries in remote locations will be highly regarded.
• Previous experience of fixed plant maintenance and processing plants, including but not limited to:
-SAG and Ball Mills
-Crushing Plants
-Floatation Systems
-Thickeners
-Able Pressure Pumps
-Filter Presses
• Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Experience in the use of Pronto will be advantageous
