K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

Joining our Community Affairs team, the Supervisor – Business Development is responsible for coordinating and implementing day-to-day local business development and supplier participation initiatives. This role ensures that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from host communities are supported to meet procurement requirements and integrate into the mine’s supply chain, in line with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and national content obligations.

By supporting the Local Business Development & Procurement Standard within the Social Performance Management System (SPMS), the role contributes directly to the Material Issue: Local Procurement & Economic Participation, strengthening community economic resilience during operations and beyond mine closure.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Contributes to local content from exploration and construction through to operations and closure by building lasting SME capability.
• Works closely with suppliers, local businesses, and the procurement team to ensure opportunities are transparent, fair, and aligned with company policies.
• Supervises and mentors Business Development Assistants, allocating daily tasks and reviewing outputs.
• Prepares and delivers weekly/monthly workplans for SME training, supplier onboarding, and contract monitoring.
• Provides reporting and escalation of risks or opportunities to the Superintendent.
• Supports recruitment, onboarding, and training of Business Development Assistants as the team grows
• Implements SOPs and workflows under the Local Business Development & Procurement Standard.
• Manages the local supplier database, including registration, compliance checks, and performance records.
• Supports tender and contracting processes to ensure local suppliers are fairly considered.
• Coordinates SME training and mentoring sessions, tracking participation and outcomes.
• Prepares data and inputs for reporting on local content commitments and procurement performance.
• Works closely with Supervisors – Community Projects and Agriculture Projects to identify opportunities for SME participation in construction and agricultural value chains.
• Coordinates with the Procurement Department to align local supplier engagement with company sourcing needs.
• Engages with government commerce offices, chambers of commerce, and business associations to support SME growth and ensure alignment with national policies.
• Interfaces with financial institutions where SMEs require support in accessing credit or capital.
• Supports the delivery of MOA commitments on business development and local supplier participation.
• Ensures SMEs clearly understand contract requirements and company expectations.
• Differentiates between contractual obligations and aspirational requests, escalating issues to the Superintendent where required.
• Provides transparent updates to communities and SMEs about available opportunities.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have the following attributes

• Diploma or degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, or related discipline.
• 3–5 years’ experience in SME development, procurement, or supply chain management
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills, with experience in supplier databases.
• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with local entrepreneurs and contractors.
• Fluency in Tok Pisin and English; local language knowledge advantageous.
• Demonstrates fairness and inclusivity in supplier engagement.
• Maintains transparency and integrity in business dealings.
• Builds trust with local SMEs through consistent follow-through.
