About the role
The Mechanical Trades Assistant will support Mechanics in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment. The role involves a variety of tasks, including assisting with physical work, handling tools and materials, preparing job sites, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Key / Major Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
- To support mechanics in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment
- Complete records for all assets and equipment maintained.
- Maintain specialist company equipment and tools to ensure they are available for immediate use.
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness of workshops, plant, and equipment to promote safe working practices.
- Identify and report safety hazards.
- Maintain safety work standards in accordance with government regulations and company policy.
- Read and understand relevant standards that the mechanical trades must work with.
- Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have some or all the following.
- Grade 10 certificate
- PETT Certificate is desirable
- PNG driver's licence is desirable for.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate or training in mechanical or related field (e.g., Mechanical Apprenticeship) is a plus.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving heavy equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to follow instructions and ensure accuracy and precision in tasks.
- Sound communication.
- Self-starter, and very resourceful, with the ability to find solutions to problems to ensure the equipment availability is high.
- Flexible and adaptable and be a team player.
- Able to work long hours.
