About the role

Our new gold processing facility will be commissioned in 2025.  The Control System Engineer will play a key role in commissioning the new plant by facilitating configuration, programming and networking duties.  K92 is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Control System Engineer to be part of this dynamic and growing team.

Key / Major Accountabilities

• Assist in commissioning of the new plant control system including the Programming of PLC, HMI & DCS/SCADA systems and networking utilizing Siemens S7 PLC and PCS 7 DCS.
• Maintain and upgrade the process control system.
• Scope, design and implement new control system and process plant additions.
• Provide control system support to the plant operations team including faultfinding, modifications and PID loop tuning.
• Maintain current and up-to-date PLC and SCADA backups for all site control systems.
• Maintain site PLC communication system ensuring redundancy at all times.
• Develop and implement new PLC code and graphics utilising new and existing plant operational functional descriptions.
• Communicate exceptionally within the team and in cross-functional works with other departmental sections and groups.
• Communicate directly with equipment vendors and suppliers to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and safely.
• Monitor control systems integrity and ensure all upgrades that are required are reported in a timely manner.
• Maintain a control system register including all issues, modifications, bridges etc. 
• Diagnose instrument defects or hazards on control systems,
• Ensure all alarms, safety devices, and control interlocks at the process plant are operational always.
• Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and control systems
• Ensure and maintain safe work standards and practices in accordance with K92 Mine OHSET safety standards and Mine Safety Regulations for all tasks performed.
• Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong character who is prepared to make hard decisions and deliver results. In addition to this, you will have the following.

• Must have an Engineering degree in Electrical/Instrumentation or Control Systems.
• Siemens S7 and SIMATIC PCS 7 experience is advantageous.
• Previous plant commissioning experience
• Must have a minimum of 4 years previous control system integrator experience with proven experience in system development, programming and graphic design/implementation.
• Familiar with the application of control system networks, instruments, and control systems to meet OEM compliance, best industry practices, and Australian Standards.
• Must be a self-starter, and very resourceful, with the ability to find solutions to problems to ensure equipment availability is high.
• PNG Drivers License
