K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

This position reports to the Diamond Drill Manager and works in conjunction with the Mine Site Supervision team. This position ensures the efficient Underground drilling operations on the Diamond Drills utilized at K92 Mining Limited. This position requires the employee to be flexible with Day shift, Night Shift and work overtime when required

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Management of the company’s diamond drill fleet and all related machinery and equipment.
• Ensuring compliance by employees of company policies and setting a excellent example to others at all times.
• Training of Operators and Offsiders in safe and efficient use of the companies Diamond Drill fleet and associated equipment.
• Ensure Operators are drilling at optimal speed for ground conditions at all times.
• Diagnosing down hole problems and rectifying.
• Ensuring Survey Data is being recorded correctly.
• Utilizing company equipment and consumables in a non-wasteful manner.
• Directing Drill crews to ensure efficiency.
• Responsible for the efficient, safe, optimal and continuous operation of diamond drilling.
• Effective and reliable presentation of core
• Provide guidance and mentoring to Drillers and Supervisors.
• Work and rotation of day shift and night shift as required.
• Attend Day shift and Night shift pre-shift muster meetings.
• Ensure PNG codes and standards, including the Mines (Safety) Act, or in their absence Australian codes and standards; and Professional standards are adhered to.
• Provide communication to relevant departments (Geology and Mining) in a timely fashion regarding drilling updates.
• Ensure all drilling operations are carried out to the highest safety standard.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have

• Strong people and time management skills
• Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Internationally recognized or PNG National Drivers License. Gain and Maintain Site drivers license within 1 month.
• Forsee drilling problems and help the supervision team and driller find a solution to the issue.
• Ability to work with people from various backgrounds and social beliefs in an acceptable manner.
• Generic Site and Underground Induction.
• Must have experience in mentoring, training and assessing drilling personnel.
• Must be fully conversant with LM90 and LM110 Diamond Drills.
• Must be able to understand the company’s targets and work towards achieving the targets.
• Have a strong understanding of the mining and Drilling cycle.
• Flexible, adaptable and be a strong and proactive team player.
• Ability to meet agreed schedules and deadlines.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with other team members and K92 Mining Ltd employees.
