KK92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

This role forms part of the site Mine Geotechnical team and its purpose is to collect and analyse samples of rock, and other earth materials to support the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and work closely with other technicians to provide geotechnical expertise to the MTS, Mining and Projects team in a safe and timely manner.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Assist in performing geotechnical analysis and studies to assess site condition.
  • Assist in performing field and environmental investigations for mining projects.
  • Analyses geotechnical findings, performs appropriate calculations, and prepares data reports.
  • Assist in developing proposals and determines cost and schedule for investigations.
  • Assist in developing design drawings and specifications for mining projects.
  • Assist in reviewing geotechnical designs developed by outside consultants.
  • Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities and identifies & reports any cost wastage within designated team.
  • Prepare regular Operational Plans and reports (e.g., weekly, monthly, and quarterly) detailing Ground support status and requirements for the Underground workings, Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) and haul road from portal to plant.
  • Be part of a high-performance culture by motivating other team members to achieve a high level of performance and by rewarding and recognising high performance.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members.
  • Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.
  • Ensure exploration drilling and sampling is conducted by competent technicians in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have minimum Grade 10 level of education along with experience in a similar role in either open cut of underground mining either or you may a recent Geology graduate with minimal industry experience who is looking to secure their first role in the mining industry. In addition to this you will have some or all the following.

  • Must have 1-3 years’ experience in Geotechnical fields or related.
  • Strong understanding of analysing geotechnical findings, calculations, and data reporting.
  • Working with AutoCAD or equivalent master data system
  • Strong safety focus and a sound knowledge of standard mine operating procedures
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate information clearly to supervisors and other mining personnel
  • Relevant equipment license
  • PNG Driver's Licence highly desirable
