K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate. 

We are now transforming the operation with a new 1.2 mtpa process plant as well as extensive construction and expansion across site that will see us triple the output from our mine by 2027. About the role

As K92 continues expanding our underground gold mine near Kainantu, health and safety remains our number one priority, as such, we seek to add an additional health officer to assist with following

•              Reporting to the Medical Officer to ensure suitable medical response is available at the Clinic.

•              Ensure suitable First Aid Training is available to the wider workforce

•              Provision of medical administrative support to the clinic and site and any surrounding community linked to K92 mining Limited.

•              Participate in site-wide health and safety activities, comply with site-wide Policies.

•              Liaise with local medical providers (Ramu Private Clinic, Gusap Clinic, Kainantu Hospital, Clinics and hospitals in Lae) as required.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Maintain a safe work environment for all K92 employees, visitors and contractors through audits, inspections, and training.
• Providing effective and timely medical advice – including ensuring the medical staff are providing the correct support.
• Participate in workplace inspections (daily, weekly) and audits (against our own standards. 
• Lead in COVID-19___0 sample collection for testing and keeping up to date records of all data on daily bases.
• Assist senior medical staff’s onsite on after hour’s duties or with emergency cases whenever required.
• Updating of medical inventory and medical records.
• Doing daily and weekly checks on all medical items and equipment’s onsite.
• Assist senior medical staff with community health care provisions.
• Other tasks as required and assigned by Medical Officer and Superintendent HSET

About You

To be considered for this position, candidates must have 2 years minimum Health experience in an extractive industry or heavy construction environment. In addition to this, candidates should also (ideally) be able to demonstrate some or all the following. 

• Tertiary Qualification in Rural Health
• Current registration as a Member of an Associate member Health Service PNG Medical Board.
• Current Authority to practice medicine certificate
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity, for both PNG and expat staff.
• Able to conduct briefings in English and Tok Pisin.
• Microsoft Office experience with Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint.
• Experience with collating and editing reports.
• Flexible with work location. Work location may vary.
• Very good end user of MS Office Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook.
