K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

This position reports to the Safety Coordinator and will provide advice and assistance to site Departments and or contractors, on safety related matters, implementation of the K92 Safety program and managing the site safety database.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Maintain the efficiency and cost-effective management of safety in the camp and mine site.
• Support Department and our Contractor Safety Officer’s and Safety Representatives as required in the successful performance of their duties.
• Ensure all incidents are fully investigated and recorded within the site safety database in a timely and accurate manner.
• Conduct safety training programs as advised by the Safety Coordinator.  
• Conduct scheduled, weekly, monthly safety audits and checks site wide
• Collate and submit weekly and monthly reports to Immediate Supervisor.
• Attend site wide weekly and monthly safety meetings.
• Ensuring that the camp and mine site safety regulations are observed by all K92 employees including contractors,
• Provide safety induction to new intakes, casuals, contractors, and visitors to site.
• To ensure the safety rules and other policies of the camp and mine site are observed and report any suspicious activities.
• Attend to other safety administrative duties in line with role and as instructed by immediate Supervisor.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have

• A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health from a recognized institution or equivalent.
• A Diploma or certificate in Health Extension or General Nursing is an advantage.
• Current PNG Driver’s License
• Training & Assessment experience & qualifications
• Completion of accredited fire training.
• Current first aid certificate.
• 2 – 5 years’ experience in occupational health and safety in mining environment would be an advantage.
• Well-versed experience in mining safety management.
• Of sober habit, a self-starter, very resourceful and with ability to find solutions.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer and e-mail correspondence.
• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
