K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

The Safety Officer for Projects is responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations and procedures are followed during the execution of the stage 3 expansion for Kainantu Gold Mine. This role is a crucial role in preventing accidents and incidents, protecting the health and safety of employees, contractors and maintaining compliance with Papua New Guinea’s safety laws and regulations.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Ensuring the continuous improvement of, safety inspections, safety training and compliance.
• Maintain a safe work environment for all K92 employees, visitors and contractors through audits, inspections, and training.
• Maintain the efficiency and cost-effective management of safety in the workplace and project site.
• Ensure all incidents are fully investigated and recorded within the site safety data base in a timely and accurate manner.
• Conduct safety training programs and initiative. 
• Conduct scheduled, weekly, monthly safety audits and checks project wide
• Collate and submit weekly and monthly reports to Project Director and Operational GM.
• Attend site wide weekly and monthly safety meetings.
• Ensuring that the camp and project sites safety regulations are observed by all K92 employees including contractors,
• Provide safety induction to new intakes, casuals, contractors, and visitors to site.
• To ensure the safety rules and other policies of the camp and mine site are observed and report any suspicious activities.

About You

To be considered for this position, candidates must have 10 years minimum Safety work experience in an extractive industry or heavy construction environment. In addition to this, candidates should also (ideally) be able to demonstrate some or all the following. 

• Appropriate Safety Officer qualifications (Cert IV OHS minimum).
• Significant experience with auditing, incident reporting.
• Incident investigation training (preferably ICAM)
• Well versed with safety systems that deals with compliance records and reports.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Very good end user of MS Office Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook.
