About the role
In this role you will provide specialist advice and support in mobile equipment servicing and repairs to our team of national technicians. This rewarding role will see you provide daily mentoring, guidance, instruction, and training to the national workforce to increase the overall mobile maintenance capability and capacity within a motivated and talented department.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure the Safety and well-being of the Kumian Mobile Equipment Team.
- Provide refinement and finalisation of labour requirements to support operational requirements and ultimately provide sufficient labour to complete “Planned/Scheduled Works”.
- Provide effective communication on planned/un-planned variations.
- Effective control STIC and having “Next” job always ready.
- Provide positive & effective communication with planners/schedulers, operations, and RCM Team.
- Act upon requests for support and provide prompt response to the requester.
- Provide training for the national workforce
- Proactively engage with our customers to provide technical advice and support to the Kumian Maintenance Team to ensure fleet availability, reliability and costs targets are achieved and optimised against budget.
- Ensure effective contract management of existing and new suppliers and provide directions to the Site Product Support Representatives.
- Coordinate program for management of critical spares to ensure parts availability.
- Respond to routine and emergency calls for repair, service and/or support within the mine site area, exploration or in the field as required to ensure downtime on equipment is minimised.
- Effectively delegate/support issues with troubleshooting to identify and remedy issues that may arise.
- Support and assist the planning team to ensure the rectification of identified equipment defects to improve and optimise availability and reliability targets.
- Provide Back Log entries are entered within Pronto to improve equipment reliability.
- Assist in the designing, monitoring and continual refinement of an effective and economically justified preventive/predictive maintenance program including:
- Proper operation and care of assets
- Comprehensive lubrication program
- Inspection, adjustment, parts, replacements, and overhauls for selected assets.
- Protection from the environment
- Assist with analysing equipment data and history records to predict maintenance needs.
- Work closely with the Reliability Engineer to assess performance and identify improvement projects to maximise results, reduce risk and implement cost management initiatives.
- Establish a high-performance culture by motivating team members to achieve a high level of performance and by rewarding and recognising high performance.
- Ensure effective processes for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members are in place.
- Direct and train employees on the installation, maintenance, or repair of all K92 mobile equipment and machines under the direct control of Kumian Maintenance team.
- Continuously mentor and coach technicians on effective repair techniques.
- Identify skills gaps and training requirements and assist in developing training packages as required to close the skills gap.
- Coordinate and assist with the delivery of training to employees including personnel of the Kumian Maintenance Team customers.
- Actively review the work performance of technicians and provide feedback to the area supervisors including the talent and succession planning for designated key roles.
- Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
- Perform high level housekeeping within and around responsible work area and is maintained utilizing the 5S process.
- Ensure mobile fleet maintenance is conducted by competent technicians in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant trade qualification in Heavy Equipment Fitting, Auto Electrical and Automation. Minimum Certificate III required.
- Previous experience operating in Papua New Guinea or developing countries in remote locations will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience or knowledge of: Diamond Drilling Equipment (Multipower/Discovery), CAT Equipment, Air Conditioning Equipment, Mobile Crushers, Forklift’s, EWP’s, Tele Handlers (Deici), Power Generation (Cummins/MTU), Zoomlion, Cranes, Volvo Trucks, Light Vehicles, Light Trucks, Diesel Power De-Watering Pumps and Generators
- Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Experience in the use of Pronto will be advantageous.
- Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
