About the role

The Senior Trainer – Heavy Equipment Fitter (HEF) will report to the Coordinator, Training & Development and will be part of the Human Resources Team. The Senior Trainer – HEF will be responsible for administering related technical training programs for K92 Mining employees to align with business needs, ensuring compliance with company standards and external accreditation requirements where applicable.

Key / Major Accountabilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop and maintain training needs analysis, training plans, succession plans as well as the apprenticeship and where required for Cadet Traineeship programs.
  • Administer the administration of the technical training programs including, Apprentice Program, Pre-Vocational Program, Technical Training Scholarships, In Plant Training and NATTB Trade Testing Program.
  • Liaise with statutory bodies and external stakeholders regarding professional membership.
  • Deliver training within budget, seek cost-saving opportunities, and ensure training outcomes meet business objectives.
  • Create and manage Individual Development Plans (IDPs), succession plans, and promote training opportunities through various communication channels while supporting all HR functions as needed.
  • Conduct regular reviews with the Training Coordinator, manage training schedules and documentation, and provide timely progress reports and updates to stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with legal and accreditation requirements, and maintain proper documentation and housekeeping in training areas.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you must have a Level 3 Heavy Equipment Fitter Accreditation from National Apprentice Trade Testing Board (NATTB) with at least a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leading hand role. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.

  • Experience in providing training and development advice to managers, superintendents, and supervisors preferably in metals extraction and mining operations.  
  • Computer Proficiency in MS Office suite.  
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, particularly in presentations and facilitation. 
  • An effective coach and mentor for industrial students, scholarship holders, apprentice, and graduates. 
  • Self-motivated with ability to work under pressure and autonomously. 
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
