K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

In this role, you will manage the effective and safe operation of the K92 processing plant, Tailings Storage Facility and Processing Services operations (incorporating tails filter plant, binder plant, batch plant and mobile crushing operations) and workforce for the efficient operation of the facility. The role will oversee coordination of the processing team in all aspects of the processing functions and operations to meet scheduled production targets and provide technical and operational support to Manager - Processing

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Develop a reporting framework to allow effective communication and dissemination of process plant safety, environment, production, and cost data throughout processing teams.
  • Supervision and management of all process operations staff and contractors.
  • Management all operational aspects and functions of the process plant.
  • Mentor site metallurgical team.
  • Drive metallurgical test work and optimisation projects.
  • Oversee accuracy and reliability of metallurgical accounting systems.
  • Liaise with fixed plant maintenance superintendents to develop strategies to achieve budget equipment availability and desired performance.
  • Develop and implement programs to improve supervisors and operators’ skill levels and identify training and development needs.
  • Manage capital and operating budgets within the process department.
  • Ensure all production targets are achieved in a safe and timely manner and with under budget cost.
  • Plan, manage, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Establishes performance requirements and personal development targets for assigned staff; regularly monitor performance and provide coaching for performance improvement and development.
  • Recommend compensation and provide other rewards to recognise performance.
  • Where required, ensure disciplinary action to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with the Company’s rules and policies.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of (10) years’ experience in a Mineral Processing Plant
  • Expert level MS Excel skills
  • PNG Mine Manager Works Certificate of Competency
  • Class three (3) driver’s license
  • Sulphide Mineral Floatation experience, crushing and grinding experience.
  • Sound knowledge of mining industry safety, environmental and operational practices.
  • Sound knowledge of mill control systems (SCADA)         
  • Ability to diagnose faults with equipment and processes within the Operations area.
  • Able to lead, provide training and coaching to staff within the processing department.
  • Strong planning and analytical skills.
  • A team player with good computer skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Ability to train process plant personnel in all aspects of their trade – particularly in diagnosis and fault finding, quality control, thoroughness and record keeping.
  • Must be a self-starter, and very resourceful, with the ability to find solutions to problems to ensure the equipment availability is high.
  • Good health physical ability is a prerequisite, as is the ability to live in a remote environment with limited facilities. Flexible, adaptable and be a team player.
