About the role

Implementation and maintenance and transmitting of all Radio communications equipment both underground and surface mine area.

Key / Major Accountabilities

  • Key accountabilities of this position include.
  • Inspect, isolate, and repair electrical malfunctions using various hand and power tools.
  • Diagnose electrical defects or hazards on systems, appliances and machinery and identify adjustment and repair timely.
  • Ensure that alarms and emergency electrical systems onsite are always operational.
  • Conduct regular electrical tests and tagging on equipment, appliances, and machines.
  • Inspect, test and qualified to apply and remove ‘out-of-service’ or ‘not-to-be operated’ tags to electrical equipment, appliances, and machines.
  • An excellent attitude to work demonstrating Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) and Cost Effectiveness awareness, at all times.
  • Assume the responsibility for all Radio Communications Equipment used by your Department by ensuring daily Pre-Start Checks are performed and defects reported immediately.
  • To be part of team of people that is organized attend to breakdowns and carry out daily production requirements.
  • Daily underground routine checks on refuge chambers, communications, Equipment radios and site wide communications.
  • Full comprehension that this position is highly sensitive and crucial to the company’s operations.
  • Keep confidential all K92 intellectual property.
  • To assist for ordering of parts when requested.
  • Offer any and all support to your Supervisor.
  • Any other Responsibilities as put forth by your Supervisor and/or UG Electrical Forman that are deemed reasonable and fair for the understanding of responsibilities for this position.
  • Complete weekly underground and 800L workshop area inspections

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you should have;

  • Grades 10 or 12 certificate
  • Tele Communications and/or Communications training certificate
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ work experience on Communications work.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Better understanding of Communications system. Maintain current electrician’s license to meet government regulations.
  • The person shall have wide experience in the installation and maintenance of underground power distribution systems, transformer installations, motor control centres, LVHV transfers, and starters; and in the maintenance of underground equipment – electric motors, compressor stations and other electrical equipment.
