K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

The primary purpose of the role is to implement site safety policy and procedures working under Operational Services by managing the weekly works and maintenance schedule set out by the planners, ensuring work crews and subcontractors working under Operational Services collaborate with other areas and sections to support regarding breakdowns and shutdowns.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Coordinate workshop and site maintenance and refurbishment works.
  • Give direction, delegate tasks, and provide technical assistance to subordinates.
  • Implement planned maintenance deadlines.
  • Check on Purchase Orders and deliveries of materials for site works.
  • Ensure cost control measures are considered by utilizing resources available to full capacity.
  • Supervise and check on work crews on daily.
  • Report any hazards and incidents.
  • Ensure training requirements are met.
  • Organise and document weekly safety toolbox meetings.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate staff performance in consultation with Superintendent – Facilities.
  • Provide coaching for performance improvement.
  • Subject to management review, takes disciplinary action to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with the Company’s rules and policies.
  • Personally, responds to inquiries and complaints from the staff.
  • Responds to emergency situations as necessary.
  • Carry out other relative duties as directed by the Superintendent – Facilities.
  • Maintain safe work standards in accordance with government regulations and company policy.
  • Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have Trade Qualifications, preferably Carpentry, Diploma of Building, others will be considered.

  • Able to use software packages for emails, reporting, file storage, scheduling,
  • CAD drawing or equivalent desirable.
  • 3 to 5yr Experience in Mining, Construction or other heavy industry
  • Methods, practices, techniques, and equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities.
  • Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.
  • Safety regulations, safe work practices and safety equipment related to the work.
  • Principles and practices of effective management and supervision.
  • Company SOP’s, policies, and regulations.
  • Plan, assign, direct and coordinate a variety of overlapping work areas.
  • Select, motivate, and evaluate staff and provide training and development.
  • Prepare clear and concise records, reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work.
  • Hold an appropriate trade certificate and must have at least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, they should also have experience in training of both operating and maintenance personnel.
  • Must be a self-starter and be very resourceful and of sober habit.
  • Good health and physical ability are a prerequisite, as is the ability to live in a remote environment with limited facilities.
  • Be flexible and adaptable and be a team player.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
