K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

This role is accountable for the cost-effective and efficient supervision of dog handlers, deployment of canine resources and maintenance of equipment. Advising the K 92 Coordinator Asset Protection on all matters regarding security and asset protection and other related issues. The role is accountable for the protection of K92 Mining personnel and assets utilizing the support and tactical deployment of canine resources.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

 

  • Undertake Providing supervision and oversight of all security management systems relating specifically to Canine Unit
  • Conduct security risk assessments and develop operations action plans to hold accountable canine team members for outcomes
  • Establish information networks essential to Security Operations
  • Build relationships and participate with community entities, peer companies, mining industry working groups and mining contractor security professionals
  • Deploy canine resources to patrol areas of K92 Mining operations to support security plans and objectives
  • Maintain a level of competency in canine handling and care
  • Ensure all canine assets are cared for to the highest levels as per the guidelines 
  • Establish information networks essential to Security Operations
  • Build relationships and participate with community entities, peer companies, mining industry working groups and mining contractor security professionals
  • Have good understanding on voluntary principles on security and human rights and anti-fraud policy
  • Promotes health and safety programs targeting zero work-related injuries and illnesses throughout the Company.
  • Conduct Close Personal Protection duties for identified personnel
  • Provide security briefings, inductions and training as required
  • Support and assist the APD team to ensure the rectification of identified defect equipment to improve and optimise availability and reliability targets.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent APD to assess performance and identify improvement projects to maximise results, reduce risk and implement cost management initiatives.
  • Maintain the Gold Room security system and ensure that the contract between the owners and contractors relating to the movement of gold, is carried out in accordance with K92 Mining Limited`s procedures.
  • Establish a high-performance culture by motivating team members to achieve a high level of performance and by rewarding and recognising high performance.
  • Appraise and evaluate direct reports in accordance with K92 Mining Limited ’s Work Performance systems   process by providing individual performance feedback, giving guidance and direction, and developing and agreeing on improvement plans
  • Ensure effective processes for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members are in place.
  • Direct and train employees on the APD process, procedure, and Equipment.
  • Continuously mentor and coach technicians on effective repair techniques.
  • Identify skills gaps and training requirements and assist in developing training packages as required to close the skills gap.
  • Actively review the work performance of APD Supervisors and provide feedback to the APD Superintendent including the talent and succession planning for designated key roles.
  • Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you

  • Possess a minimum level of Grade 10 education.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining and fire & emergency response disciplines
  • 10+ years relevant work experience essential.
  • Successful completion of accredited safety, fire, and emergency response training.
  • Competent in breathing apparatus, rescue from height, confined space rescue and fire response.
  • Experience in fire suppression equipment maintenance.
  • Current Occupational First Aid Certificate.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Pidgin.
  • Ability to write reports and have good computer skills in Word & Excel.
  • Proven man management and supervisory skills.
  • Good, demonstrated skills in Radio / telephone procedures.
  • Sound incident investigation skills.
  • Truck driving license.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
