K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

Reporting to the Head of Exploration, you will be a dedicated geologist with great people skills, who wants to lead a highly skilled and motivated exploration team as K92 continues its exploration success. As we increase our exploration focus in 2026 with 7 drill rigs on site, you will oversee all our exploration drilling, which is done in house, as well as coordinate all facets of Exploration, including safety, administration, logistics, drilling, surface mapping/surveying/sampling, database and drill pad construction.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Coordinate all facets of Exploration, including safety, administration, logistics, drilling, surface mapping/surveying/sampling, database and drill pad construction.
  • Work intimately with Community Relations team to ensure ongoing access to new areas and maintenance of existing programs.
  • Analyse geological data using specialist computer applications.
  • Ensure that all exploration operations comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements covering all relevant areas, including safety, environmental etc.
  • Internal and statutory reporting in relation to activities and tenements, including renewals.
  • Development and management of budgets for the Exploration Department.
  • Ensure QA/QC protocols are adhered to.
  • Drill hole planning, designs and roll out.
  • Ensuring / authorising those geotechnical inspections of drill pads are completed, pre- and post-construction and pre-drilling. Ensure that regular monitoring of drill pads is carried out.
  • Coordinate drill pads design and construction in a timely manner.
  • Ensure logging of core by geologists is accurate, consistent, and complete; includes inspecting core logs and comparing with drill core.
  • Carry out weekly database checks to ensure logging is complete.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as determined by the Vice President (Exploration).
  • Develop and manage the Exploration Team, including management of contractors.
  • Establish a high-performance culture by motivating team members to achieve a high level of performance and by rewarding and recognising high performance.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members.
  • Direct and train employees on the Exploration SOP.
  • Continuously mentor and coach geology technicians on effective sampling, core processing techniques.
  • Actively review the work performance of geology and technicians and provide feedback to the Vice President (Exploration), including the talent and succession planning for designated key roles.
  • Develop, implement, and manage Company Occupational Health and Safety Programs.
  • Actively promote a safe and healthy culture.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you are tertiary qualified in Geology or similar with 12+ years’ experience in gold and porphyry gold/copper exploration, you will have strong people skills and work in a collaborative manner. In addition, you must have all or some of the following:

  • Computer proficiency and the ability to analyse numerical and graphical data, including 3D modelling skills.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for communication, rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
  • Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area
