K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

Joining the K92 Underground gold mine as it goes through transformational expansion, the Reliability Engineer provides technical support to the underground maintenance team. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities to improve the performance of the mining fleet and infrastructure as well as contributing to developing a culture of continuous improvement within the underground maintenance team, encouraging all employees to participate in efforts to enhance safety performance, equipment availability and reliability and overall cost reductions/efficiencies.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Undertake Support and utilise the site’s downtime data capture and reporting system (Centric). Generate daily, weekly and month trend reports and commentary.
• Review downtime data to ensure integrity and accuracy. Undertake any corrective actions to improve data quality, as required.
• Contribute to weekly and monthly reporting to provide clear explanations for the root causes of unscheduled downtime events.
• Communicate maintenance KPIs to the broader maintenance team. Provide explanations to the crews on what the KPIs represent and how these can be measured and managed.
• Oversee the oil and fuel sampling and analysis program – in conjunction with the site contractor, Dunlop.
• Ensure that all condition monitoring activities are set up as PM Tasks in Pronto and are completed to the correct procedures and standards. Monitor any defects or faults, identified by condition monitoring, and manage through normal work management processes.
• Identify, support, implement future condition monitoring programs such as Newtrax/Sandvik Optimine (equipment health telemetry).
• Define, document, and manage the hydrocarbon management program for the underground mobile equipment fleet – hydraulic oil, lubricant oil, grease and fuel. Maintain register of hydrocarbon types and applications.
• Ensure that there are appropriate practices and procedures in place for storing, transferring, and handling hydrocarbons - including avoidance of spillage and contamination.
• Track hydrocarbon usage and disposal – including waste management and compliance to regulatory requirements.
• Conduct equipment performance analysis by using data to identify improvement opportunities based on Safety incidents, near-miss or hazards reports, Production losses (equipment/plant downtime): use of Pareto charts, Frequent/repetitive downtime events: MTBF, consistently below targets for PM and Schedule Compliance, over budget/forecast actual costs by GL Account or project.
• Facilitate root cause investigations based on downtime performance data or incidents/equipment failures.
• Implement projects to improve fleet availability and/or reliability (as measured by MTBF).
• Engage input from a wide range of contributors – including K92 maintenance, operations, and supply chain personnel as well as OEMs and suppliers.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you 

• Grade 12 High School Certificate (essential)
• PNG driver’s licence (essential)
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential)
• Condition Monitoring or Non-Destructive Testing Diploma or post-graduate certificate (desirable)
• Minimum of 2 years in an engineering role, post-graduation – preferably in the mining industry.
• Familiarity with Reliability Engineering concepts and processes.
• Strong analytical skills – data analysis, root cause investigation methods.
• Knowledge of Maintenance practices – in particular Maintenance planning.
• Project Management experience – coordinating small projects.
• Good level of English literacy - sound report writing skills, with use of finance and accounting terminology.
• Good level of competency using the MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point).
• Familiarity/experience with ERP (Maintenance Management System) – specifically Finance, Supply and Maintenance modules.
• Understanding of a range of Condition Monitoring techniques and practices.
