K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate. 

We are now transforming the operation with a new 1.2 mtpa process plant as well as extensive construction and expansion across site that will see us triple the output from our mine by 2027. About the role

As our site continues to grow with production doubling in 2026, we are seeking to add an additional Senior Electrical Specialist to our underground maintenance and projects team. In this role you will work closely with and provide technical support and guidance to the Projects and Maintenance Engineering teams during the execution of underground electrical expansion projects/equipment installation activities. 

Upon completion of these projects, you will develop procedures and training for the operation and maintenance of these newly installed systems.

Key Accountabilities

• Actively promote a safety first, zero harm culture.
• Ensure safe operation, and maintenance of operations power and utilities assets in the areas of 22-11kv substation and emergency backup power, 11kv-1kv power reticulation in the underground mine, primary ventilation fans which are being upgraded to 11kV with VSD control, underground pastefill plant where a new facility is to be installed and underground communication network, Leaky Feeder, Fibre Optic, Radio.
• Ensure delivery of all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual targets and KPIs associated with non-operations power and utilities.
• Develop and oversee delivery of short term (0 - 3month) operation power and utilities maintenance schedules.
• Contribute to the development of medium- and long-term asset maintenance plans, and major capital improvement / replacement projects.
• Oversee delivery of the power and utilities aspect of any non-operations CAPEX work by the Projects Team.
• Actively seek out opportunities to improve operations asset effectiveness and utilisation.
• Develop employee capability by providing formal and informal feedback as well as on the job and formal training opportunities.
• Ensure all personnel within your span of control are provided with ongoing career and technical development opportunities.
• Play an active role in the allocation of staff and resources to ensure all maintenance activities are achieved in an efficient and cost -effective manner.
• Promote and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Manage commercial contracts including performance of contractors and independent consultants working for the department. Through visible leadership behaviour, drive and influence safe behaviours within the workgroups under your control and sphere of influence.
• Ensure all employees, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements sand hold people accountable for their safety actions.
• Plan work, so that it can be conducted safely and takes into consideration environmental, adjacent activities, as well as people and resource requirements into account.

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant Electrical trade qualifications and current license
• Valid CPR/LV Rescue Training
• HV Switching Certificate (this can be refreshed via site trainers)
• PNG Driver’s License (or ability to get one).
• Further Management or a related technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering
• Experience in the use of Pronto will be advantageous.
• Previous experience operating in Papua New Guinea or developing countries in remote locations will be highly regarded
• Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent trouble shooting skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
• Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
