K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

The K92 Pumping technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing pumps used in the underground and surface areas of the mine. It is expected that they have a good working knowledge of submersible 1000v pumps such as Flygt, Minetuff, and Pump ENG pumps and can rebuild these to an OEM specification. Testing of pumps is also carried out in the workshop.

You must be able to work unsupervised and in a safe manner at all times and comply with all safety rules and procedures applicable.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations in accordance with the K92 Mining Safety System at all times.
• Ensure that all tasks carried out are as per supervisor’s written and verbal instructions.
• To be able to identify and use appropriate fittings to be fitted to specific pumps, as per OEM specification.
• Carry out assemblies using a variety of pumps for all mining equipment and operations of 1000v pump starter boxes.
• Understand the procedures involved when testing to higher pressures and its associated safety critical aspects.
• Carry out all assembly techniques as per supplier or in-house procedures.
• Work as a member of a team in the electrical department and perform duties of assistance in other areas.
• Be aware of environmental issues associated with workshop procedures.
• Have the ability and knowledge to operate all hand, cordless and power tools, machinery and equipment.
• Have a high standard and ensure that work areas are always maintained clean and hazard free.
• Actively contribute to the overall team activities and promote good working practices.
• Be prepared to work overtime if requested to ensure our organization deadlines are met.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you

• Possess current PNG Driver’s License
• Mechanical Technical Knowledge.
• 3+ years’ experience in Pumping industries.
• Familiarity with pressure systems distributing liquids under varying pressures.
• Independent worker who works well without supervision
• Training and Assessment experience and qualifications
• Strong approach to proactive safety
• Current First Aid qualification
