About the role
In this role you will be responsible for the effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance activities to optimise equipment performance and reliability. Utilising Pronto as the core CMMS, the role will focus on developing the national workforce, forecasting component requirements, tracking critical equipment metrics, and ensuring efficient resource allocation. This role plays a key part in minimising equipment downtime through structured planning, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for both planned and corrective maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Utilise Pronto to track work orders, manage maintenance backlogs, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to secure the availability of spare parts and components, reducing delays in maintenance activities.
- Mentor and develop the national workforce in maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution processes, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer.
- Provide training on best practices in condition monitoring, failure analysis, and equipment tracking to enhance workforce capabilities.
- Track and forecast critical component requirements to prevent unscheduled downtime, while monitoring component life cycles and managing replacements in alignment with predictive maintenance strategies.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to analyse equipment performance and reliability. These include Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Mean Time to Damage (MTTD), Mean Time to Repair Damage Event (MTTRD), Utilisation (U), Utilisation of Availability (UofA), and overall Availability %. By analysing failure trends, implement corrective actions to enhance equipment reliability and reduce unplanned breakdowns.
- Work closely with reliability engineers and technicians to implement condition-based monitoring strategies, utilising data analytics tools such as Power BI and Excel to assess equipment health and performance trends. Investigate failures and recommend preventive actions to mitigate future risks.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of parts and components while maintaining optimal stock levels to minimise excess inventory costs.
- Conduct regular inventory reviews, perform stock adjustments, and ensure accurate inventory records within Pronto, updating them as required based on usage trends.
- Develop and maintain accurate machine Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Pronto for effective parts tracking.
- Ensure BOMs remain up to date with equipment modifications and upgrades, enabling efficient maintenance planning.
- Prepare structured reports and dashboards using Power BI and Excel to provide insights into maintenance performance, downtime trends, and cost analysis.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and generate data-driven insights for continuous improvement.
- Present daily, weekly, and monthly KPI reports while also preparing and maintaining quarterly and annual mobile plant maintenance forecasts.
- Contribute to the annual maintenance budgeting process and monthly cost reviews to optimise financial planning and resource allocation.
- Ensure health and safety, and environmental performance meets or exceeds company and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all personnel operating in the mining area meet the legislative requirements and hold the appropriate qualifications.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- Mechanical/electrical trade and/or Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Qualification in Maintenance Planning, Asset Management, or Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM).
- Formal certificate in Advanced MS Excel would be desirable
- 5 to 10 years of practical experience in a maintenance-focused industry, preferably in a mining environment.
- Proficiency in Pronto ERP or other CMMS platforms.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of condition monitoring, failure analysis, and reliability metrics.
- Strong understanding of RCM principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
- Experience mentoring and developing local workforce teams.
- Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
