Superintendent - Technical Training | 4 Weeks on/4 Weeks off - PNG

K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. We are now transforming the operation with a new 1.2 mtpa process plant as well as extensive construction and expansion across site that will see us triple the output from our mine by 2027. About the role

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating and implementation of training programs and overseeing the development of career roadmaps across our growing site in the Eastern Highlands. You will partner with training teams to identify, plan and ensure delivery of technical training programs across multiple business units, including coordination of external training providers.

Key / Major Accountabilities

  • Ensure that training aligns with Mandatory Training requirements, including refresher training as per specified timeframes.
  • Develop a team of qualified personnel to deliver technical training through using decentralised matrix structure across business units.
  • Ensure training personnel meet the Trainers & Training Organisations Procedure, ensuring trainers possess the necessary qualifications and approvals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support and delivery Business training requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative, company, and personal HSE systems.
  • Coach & mentor employees through visible HSE leadership while actively promote a safety-first, zero-harm culture.
  • Appraise and evaluate direct reports' performance.
  • Ensure the implementation of individual Training and Development Plans for all personnel within the team.
  • Promote and drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the delivery of technical and non-technical training, ensuring alignment with the Technical Training Standard.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor technical training programs to meet organisational needs, including the creation of Multimedia visual aids, brochures, and presentations and testing and evaluation processes.
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify departmental and site-wide training needs and prepare a training calendar and program(s) to address these needs through Classroom training demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings and workshops
  • Ensure training aligns with Induction Training requirements for all employees, contractors, and business partners.
  • Ensure Compliance Training is completed by all personnel within specified timeframes.
  • Plan and schedule work to optimise resource utilisation and delivery capability.
  • Where appropriate, manage commercial contracts, including performance of contractors and independent consultants working for the department in alignment with site Training Standards.
  • Ensure that external trainers and organisations meet the requirements outlined in Trainers & Training Organisations Procedure.
  • Support and oversee contractor training compliance as per Contractor Mobilisation Procedure.
  • Develop, manage, and contribute to the annual operational and capital expenditure budget of the training department.

About You

  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment
  • Diploma in Training and Assessment/Training and Design
  • Formal qualifications in Human Resources or related field
  • PNG Driver’s License (or ability to get one).
  • Relevant work experience in similar role preferably in mining / remote construction operations.
  • Previous experience operating in Papua New Guinea or developing countries in remote locations will be highly regarded.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite, adobe creative, photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
