About the Role
Reporting to the Manager – Group IT, this position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-wide analytics and reporting solutions. The role supports site operations in PNG and corporate teams in Brisbane and Vancouver by delivering timely, accurate, and consistent operational and financial insights.
This position integrates data from core operational systems including Pronto, Deswik.OPS, OSI PI Historian, and Cognos, standardises KPI definitions across the business, and enables data-driven decision-making on equipment performance, people movements, supplier spend, and project delivery.
Key Accountabilities
Business Intelligence Delivery: Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards that support daily, weekly, and monthly operational and corporate decision-making.
Data Integration & Automation: Build and maintain automated data pipelines integrating Pronto, Deswik.OPS, OSI PI Historian, and Cognos into a governed reporting framework.
Data Governance & Standards: Establish and enforce consistent KPI definitions, naming conventions, data models, and visual standards across all reporting assets.
Operational Insight & Performance: Translate operational and financial data into actionable insights on equipment performance, resource utilisation, supplier spend, and delivery performance.
Stakeholder Engagement & Enablement: Partner with Operations, Finance, Projects, HSE, and IT stakeholders to understand reporting needs and drive adoption of BI tools.
Vendor & Contractor Oversight: Review and validate deliverables from external BI providers and progressively reduce reliance on third parties by building internal capability.
Cost & Efficiency Support: Provide analytical insight to support cost control, budget tracking, and identification of optimisation opportunities.
Documentation & Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain technical and user documentation for dashboards, metrics, and data models.
About You
You will be an experienced data and analytics professional with a strong technical foundation and the ability to engage effectively with operational stakeholders. You will also bring:
Qualifications:
• Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Data Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
• Microsoft Power BI or relevant data visualisation certification (e.g. DA-100 / PL-300) – desirable.
• Additional certification in data engineering, governance, or cloud platforms (e.g. Azure Data Fundamentals) – desirable.
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years' experience developing and managing Power BI dashboards in a complex operational or enterprise environment.
• Strong understanding of KPI frameworks, business performance reporting, and data modelling concepts.
• Proven ability to integrate data from multiple systems such as Pronto, Deswik.OPS, OSI PI Historian, and IBM Cognos.
• Experience in DAX, Power Query (M), and advanced report design.
• Familiarity with data governance principles, including consistency of metrics, naming conventions, and report structure.
• High-level proficiency in SQL and Excel.
Desirable:
• Experience working in mining, industrial, or large-scale operational environments.
• Exposure to flight/camp logistics reporting, equipment performance metrics, or supplier cost analysis.
• Experience with Power Platform (e.g. Power Automate) or other BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlik).
• Knowledge of cloud data solutions (e.g. Azure, AWS, or Snowflake).
