K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

As part of the technical services team and reporting to our Technical Services Manager, in this role you will oversee the successful planning, execution, and closure of technical and operational projects within the Mine Technical Services department. The role includes managing contractors, optimizing project execution, and mentoring the team to achieve business objectives while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

Key Accountabilities

• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of key mining infrastructure projects, including ventilation systems,
• backfill operations, and materials handling.
• Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
• 3Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors for successful project delivery.
• 4Drive innovation in project design and implementation for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Manage and supervise contractors across multiple disciplines, including civil, electrical, and mechanical.
• Lead and mentor the project engineering team to enhance their technical capabilities.
• Ensure alignment between contractor deliverables and company standards.
• Foster a collaborative environment within the team to meet organizational goals.
• Design and optimize infrastructure, including ventilation systems, compressed air upgrades, dewatering, and paste backfill reticulation.
• Apply advanced problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and improve processes.
• Ensure all technical work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Actively promote a culture of safety and environmental compliance by leading by example.
• Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols in all project activities

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
• 6 years plus of underground hard rock mining experience
• Experienced with Deswik 3D modelling software – essential
• Expertise in managing large-scale mining infrastructure projects, including ventilation, backfill, and materials handling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and contractors effectively.
• Experience working in remote or developing regions, with an emphasis on adaptability and resilience
• Ability to analyze numerical and geographical data.
• Well-developed planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent trouble shooting skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
