K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

About the role

Joining our exploration team, in this role you will operate LM90 Diamond Drill rigs and recover an accurate sample/core as per K92 mining specification, in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Management of the diamond drill tooling, inventory and all related machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose down hole problems and remedy issues that may arise.
• Ensure survey data is being recorded and reported correctly and in a timely manner.
• Ensure diamond drill core recovery is maximised and displayed correctly.
• Ensure record keeping is completed correctly and in a timely manner for drill reports, consumables and any other requirements as identified.
• Ensure effective processes for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members are in place.
• Direct and train employees on appropriate and effective drill practices and techniques.
• Develop team members through regular feedback, coaching and formal training.
• Identify skills gaps and training requirements and assist in developing training packages as required to close the skills gap.
• Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
• Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
• Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.
• Ensure diamond drilling operations are conducted by competent operators in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures and legislation.

About You

To be considered for this position, it is essential that applicants have demonstrated experience in the safe operation of an LM90 Diamond Drill rig. In addition to this, applicants should also

• Qualifications in Drilling Operations or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years experiences drilling with LM90 and rod handler.
• Possess certified Miner training certificate in area of handling hand drill machine
• Basic Life Support and First Aid Certificate.
• PNG National Driver’s License. (Class 6 preferred)
• Knowledge of critical components of the Drills and their functions.
• Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent trouble shooting skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
