K92 Mining Limited are the owners of the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the Role
The Superintendent – Information Technology is responsible for leading and maintaining all site-based IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems that support K92’s underground and surface operations. This includes mine communications, production systems, process control, and core infrastructure that ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable functioning of the Kainantu Gold Mine.

The role provides both strategic and hands-on technical leadership, mentoring the IT team and collaborating closely with Mining, Processing, and Engineering departments to enhance system performance, data integration, and business continuity across the operation.

Key Accountabilities
This position oversees the performance, reliability, and improvement of all technology systems across the site. Responsibilities include:

• Team Management: Support the Group IT Manager in providing mentoring and guidance to the site IT team; allocate tasks, monitor performance, and maintain strong communication between site management, operational teams, and vendors

• Operational Technology Systems: Manage and support underground and surface communications, industrial control systems (SCADA, PLCs), process control, and production data networks.

• Systems Integration & Performance: Oversee integration between IT and OT environments to enable real-time data flow across mining systems such as Deswik, Pitram, and Micromine.

• Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement: Lead implementation of new systems, technology upgrades, and optimisation projects that improve efficiency, safety, and digital capability.

• Technical Support & Reliability: Act as the escalation point for complex IT/OT issues, ensuring high system uptime and operational resilience.

• Vendor & Contractor Management: Liaise with technology partners and equipment suppliers to coordinate procurement, maintenance, and service-level performance.

• Budget & Risk Management: Design, monitor, and manage the site IT budget in coordination with the Group IT Manager; identify and mitigate operational and cybersecurity risks.

• Safety & Compliance: Promote safe work practices and maintain high housekeeping standards within all IT and OT work areas.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring deep technical knowledge in both IT and Operational Technology, with strong leadership and a solutions-oriented mindset. You will also have:

• Proven experience managing OT systems in mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments.

• Advanced knowledge of industrial networks, automation, and control systems (SCADA, PLCs, process control).

• Experience managing and integrating mine technologies such as Deswik, Pitram, Micromine, or similar systems.

• Strong background in Microsoft Windows (Server and Desktop) and Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online).

• Expertise in enterprise networks, including VLANs, firewalls, SDWAN, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure.

• Proficiency with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Nutanix) and storage infrastructure (NAS, SAN).

• Experience with backup and disaster recovery systems (Veeam, Azure Site Recovery) and endpoint security tools.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with adaptability in fast-paced operational environments.

Desirable:

• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud environments.

• Familiarity with Fortinet, Cisco, or Ubiquiti technologies.

• Experience with Intune MDM, PowerShell/Python scripting, and industrial IoT integration.
